Der US-Aktienmarkt stellt ca. 75 % der globalen Marktkapitalisierung dar und ist natürlich der größte Aktienmarkt in der Welt. Die enthaltenen Indizes werden oft als Indikatoren für die wirtschaftliche Leistungskraft von Sektoren und die diesbezüglichen Aktivitäten verwendet, sowie für Investitionen in Indizes innerhalb von Fonds.
