South Africa's biggest micro lender could be hurt by the dollar and global uncertainty around the world since the banks make profit from people paying back loans and putting in deposits, people deposit less when everything in the economy becomes expensive because savings lags when compared to current state of the value of money and the purchasing power people have. The institution also experienced an increase in net transactions and commissions but the number of bad loans as percentage of total laons in retail banking increased to 101 basis points from 80 basis points in 2023.
