USDJPY and US Equities - Both Risk Barometers
The S&P 500 is a good measure of risk trends. However, it has limits on short-selling interest and is smitten by the complacency behind buy-and-hold crowds that were very dependent on stimulus. USDJPY - and the yen crosses - are similarly good measures of sentiment, and they are less constrained to respond to risk aversion.
