German engine maker Deutz' DEZ first-quarter revenue increased despite an 18.2% fall in unit sales compared to the same period last year, but missed market expectations, it said on Monday.

Revenue for the first three months of the year were 489 million euros ($556.09 million), a 7.5% rise compared to the same period last year, but below analysts' estimate of 501.5 million euros as seen in a company provided consensus, it said.

"The wider economic conditions continue to present us with challenges, but we remain comfortably profitable even in these times,” its CEO Dr. Sebastian C. Schulte said in a statement.

Despite sales dropping to 31,263 units compared to 38,242 units in the same period last year, revenues increased due to higher prices per unit sold as a result of its restructured portfolio, a greater proportion of service business, the HJS emission technology business, and favourable pricing effects, Deutz said.

The engine maker confirmed its revenue forecast "assuming that the market will recover noticeably in the second half of 2025 and that measures to mitigate the impact of the tariff situation prove effective," it noted in a statement.
