Price x Volume ActivityPrice × Volume Activity highlights candles where unusually large amounts of capital are participating in the market.
The indicator calculates Price × Volume (PV) for each candle and compares it to a 20-period average. When the current PV exceeds 1.8× its average, the background is highlighted to signal a participation spike.
These spikes often occur during:
• Breakouts and breakdowns
• Institutional accumulation or distribution
• High-conviction trend moves
• News or momentum-driven volatility
How to Read It
Orange line → Current Price × Volume
Blue line → 20-period PV average
Red background → Unusually high participation
High PV spikes suggest that significantly more capital than usual is active in the candle, helping traders confirm whether a move has strong conviction behind it.
Best Use Cases
This indicator works best in markets where volume reflects real traded participation, such as:
• Stocks
• Cryptocurrencies
• Futures and other liquid derivatives
It is less reliable on spot index charts, where volume may represent derived or proxy data rather than actual traded value.
Tips for Using the Indicator
For best results, combine this indicator with:
• Price action analysis
• Support and resistance levels
• Volume or open interest analysis
Used together, these tools can help identify high-participation moves, potential accumulation or distribution zones, and stronger breakout confirmations.
